On March 7 Albright College’s FM radio station, 91.3 WXAC, traveled to New York City for the 75th annual Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Conference. WXAC took home the Bronze Microphone Award for outstanding broadcasting excellence. The conference welcomed over 1,500 college radio broadcasters from around the world to The Hotel Pennsylvania of New York. The three-day conference featured tours of CBS NY studios, and over 100 panel discussions intended to educate attendees on broadcasting practice. Numerous broadcasting figures attended the event including New York radio superstar Ty Bentli, and Hari Sreenivasan from PBS NewsHour. WXAC’s faculty advisor Mindy Cohen held a discussion on how college radio stations can reach beyond their campus. Among the attendees from Albright were Cohen, program director Chris Longworth, and Music Director Trent Grey.
